It was recorded in the Sentinal of 1906 that families living in the central part of the island, gathered for Hymn Sings and Praise Services on the Pavilion at the beach at 32nd Street.  Visiting Pastors would hold services and all were welcome.  A group of those living in the area identified the need of a Chapel for worship.  Through the vision of this group and many strawberry festivals, funds were raised and Central Ocean City Union Chapel was built and chartered in 1915.  In 1922  the Bell in the steeple was donated and the sweet sounding bell has been ringing ever since.  Today, children and adults alike have the opportunity to ring the Bell, calling visitors to worship.

The Central Ocean City Union Chapel is a Gospel preaching and Bible teaching vacationer's Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is independent, evangelical and interdenominational.  All are welcome to the air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible facility.
