The chapel began meeting in the beach pavilion at 32nd street in the early 1900s. A Board of Trustees was selected and the Chapel was incorporated in the state of New Jersey on September 18, 1915 as a non-profit corporation. It has been interdenominational since its beginning. Mr. Murdock Mackensie became Superintendent of the Sunday School in 1920 and carried on the services with help from visiting ministers until 1945. At that time the United Presbyterian Presbytery of Philadelphia assisted in the governance for several years until an interdenominational Board of Trustees was formed consisting mostly of laymen who to this day carry on a Christian witness and provide an opportunity for worship and study of The Word for those on vacation.
We are supported entirely by freewill offerings. We Restated and Amended our Certificate of Incorporation in the State of New Jersey on August 20, 2008 and that the IRS has determined that we are tax exempt and contributions to the Chapel are tax deductable.
